Why don't you try finding the meaning of 10 words from your book?

Here is an excercise for you to practice. Try to classify the following words in five different groups: words with short "a", short "e", short "i", short "o" and short "u" vowel sounds. For example, "jam" is a short "a" vowel word. Can you organize the rest?
